Thirty knots at thirty below

Ahh, Canada in the winter.

The get-up for handling thirty knots at thirty below is pretty familiar by now. Undershorts. Inner pants. Seriously thick socks. Gore-Tex outer pants. Long-sleeve cotton inner shirt. Synthetic fleece outer shirt. Fleece parka liner. Windproof parka. Knitted toque. Fleece headscarf. Thinsulate gloves. Double-insulated boots. Ski goggles. And we're ready to brave the storm.

Thankfully, when the storm clears and the thermometer starts climbing again, the lake looks like this.
